I have just graduated with a Masters in Electrical Engineering. I want to apply to 10 post bacc programs. I want a program that is:
Career Changer
Very Structured
Only Post Bacc Students and
Very Reputable

So far my list includes:
Bryn Mawr
Goucher
Colombia

Please help me find the best schools. I have been researching, but cannot narrow the top programs down. Please comment on any ideas.

Also since Bryn Mawr and Goucher are based on rolling decision, when do they usually fill up by?

Columbia is an ivy league school-but according to other students on SDN hardly an ivy league program. Read the threads about it, it takes heavy criticism on the boards here.

I feel the same about the program you seek, and am applying as well. I would add Scripps College to your list, but many of their classes are non-post bac students as well. They have a pretty good reputation though. To the best of my knowledge your qualifier about only post-bac students removes all other programs from consideration.

Usually, Goucher and Bryn Mawr are still accepting students by May or so, but the earlier you apply, the better off you are.

Applying to 10 postbac programs seems like a lot. Most of my fellow classmates and I applied to around 3.

Two others to consider would be Hopkins (though classes there are with undergrads) and Scripps.

I don't know much about Bryn Mawr's spots filling up, but I'm at Goucher now, and we've had quite a few interviews come in already, though Betsy says that the big influx of applications comes in the spring semester. I would try to get your app soon so that it beats that rush.

Good luck!

Columbia is not postbac only. If you do the 18 month accelerated track, your Gen Chem & Physics will be mostly postbacs because the classes will be off sequence, but these classes will probably be your least favorite precisely because they are postbac only. Those with undergrads generally have better teachers, a less punishing curve, better/more TAs.

But, yeah, 10 is really too many. Try 2 to 4, perhaps. And Columbia has its benefits, but I would say that they are generally outweighed by its detriments. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more info on the Columbia program from a former student's perspective.
