Top tier schools taking longer to send IIs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just by browsing through the school-specific discussions, I have noticed that most of the top tier schools have only been trickling out IIs, as opposed to other schools which seem to have sent out a significant portion already. Most top tier school threads only have ~4-6 pages of posts, while other schools have as many as ~10-15 already. Does this mean that people applying to those schools should expect it to take a little longer to hear back than others? Or that these schools are currently still wading through their "top/most qualified" applicants? Or am I missing something? Maybe this is just my application anxiety getting to my head because I only have one II so far (application complete mid-July thru mid-Aug).

This is just me thinking out loud, so I would love to hear anyone's input (especially people more knowledgeable than I am).
I'm not sure post count is a good indicator of number of IIs released. I could be wrong

No. a lot of top schools over interview. You're just trying to justify why you haven't received a II from them but it is more likely because they've decided not to invite you yet or haven't even reviewed you rather than just "being slow."

For what it's worth, two years ago, I had not heard back from any top 20 schools on this day (complete end of august). Between now and christmas, I got 4. I am now at one of those schools. Just be patient. There's nothing you can do to really have any effect on the outcome right now.

This is an absurd way to look at this process. You have no idea if the SDN community truly reflects the larger application pool for "Top Tier" schools you also have no way of quantifying accurately the number of II's sent out by the number of posts on these threads. Also some threads become circle jerks or complain fests or social conversations about the school. Also you havent analyzed all top tier schools otherwise look at MAYO threads , those are HUGE! So take it easy and dont try to ascribe patterns to things that do no have patterns.

Someone with average stats is more likely to apply to maybe one or two top 20 schools and the rest mid tier schools so it makes sense that schools outside of the top 20 have threads with higher activity.

I very briefly scanned through some of the school specific threads of top schools and they've all had people with IIs.

@Lawper (I think) did an analysis of schools and their activity on SDN and it seemed like a lot of the higher tiered schools have less activity in general.

One might even expect more activity in the top tier threads just based on the general SDN population, which isn't exactly reflective of the overall medical school applicant population.

Depends on how you measure activity. One of the most reliable metrics for thread activity is recording page views, since there's a larger number of lurkers and members who rarely post.

*we dont know the total mix of applicants who are on SDN
*we dont know what schools they apply to
*we dont know any sort of proportionality of who are applying to what school are posting
*we dont know the process or timing on how each school evaluates, reviews and decides on II

predicting any sort of numbers or percentages here is likely less accurate that telling the future by throwing the bones of a dead animal in the fire and interperting the patterns of how they crack
You mean to say that fortune teller took me for a ride when she threw the bones after reading my tea leaves and sacrificing a goat to read the intestines. I will write a strongly worded letter to the Better Business Bureau to have her license revoked!

probably the goat wasnt USDA inspected
On a serious note, data illiteracy is real. I saw this gem presented to a bunch of execs a few months back and everyone said the results were amazing.
