I'm an MS3, trying to get my act together about applying to residencies. I know my chances of matching would be better if I was at a "top 25", "top 40", "top whatever" med school - but honestly, I have no idea where my med school stands! I applied only to schools in geographic areas where I wanted to end up, and I went to my school because it was the best fit for me, without much thought about whether or not it was a "brand name" school. It's not an Ivy, but I think it's pretty good. Where are people getting these "top 25" or whatever school rankings? Also, you know how in the Charting Match Outcomes thing it says that it helps to be from an "NIH Top 40 research-intensive school"? Where do I get that list? My school is very research driven but I have no idea if it's on that magical list or not.

If you Google it, you will find it.

More importantly, what field are you interested in, and how are/is your Step 1 score/MS-III rotations/letters of recommendation/research?

You didn't think about how the match works when deciding medical schools? But that's besides the point. Tell us where you go and we'll tell you if its tops or not haha.

Honestly I think you are reading too much into this. I care much more about how you did (grades, class rank, USMLE's) than about the standing of the school.
