Upon ovulation in female humans, the oocyte is released into the ?

i put oviduct....wouldnt that be a better answer than "body cavity" since it basically goes through the oviduct first?
 
It's released into the abdominal cavity, and the fimbriae guide it into the fallopian tubes (oviduct).

It's just a short distance, but since the ovaries don't directly contact the fallopian tubes the ova are released into the body cavity.

wait so it leaves the ovary, through the fallopian tube with guidance from the fimbriae, and into the abdominal cavity right?

so the answer is abdominal cavity pretty much because thats its destination??
 
If you google a picture of that area, you'll see two ovaries (O) surrounding a Y shaped structure, the uterus and fallopian tubes. The ovaries release an egg into the body cavity, then the egg goes into the fallopian tube. (The fimbriae are the finger-like projections that guide the egg into the fallopian tubes.)

yea i looked at pics and even 2 youtube vids but it looks like the egg gets released from the ovary into the fallopian tube and then into the uterine cavity/body cavity...?

It's a really picky question. The ovary basically releases an ovum directly into the fallopian tube. By "body cavity" they literally mean the abdominal space of a woman, the abdominopelvic cavity. So it's easier to just remember the egg goes from the ovary to the fallopian tube. But technically, the egg is released into the body cavity, and the fimbriae on the end of the fallopian tube guide it in. It's like the tiniest, microscopic space between the two, because both structures are closely associated.
hmm ok thanks...so then i wasnt COMPLETELY wrong in putting oviduct...right? lol
