This is obviously an Aldol condensation reaction but it says the answer is A is it suposed to be B?

You are correct on aldol condensation and indeed the answer should be A..

Answer choice B wouldn't work since there is ketone on b-carbon..

I would argue if there is b-hydroxy alcohol, then since there is no heat, it would stay as b-hydroxy aldehyde but such choice is not available..best answer is do the elimination of b-hydroxy alcohol all the way to get answer choice A.

Hope this help!

So, recognize that only the acetone has an alpha-H. It loses that alpha-H, and attacks the carbonyl-C of the benzaldehyde. That O- gains an H in the process of H3O+, and becomes an -OH. The compound then dehydrates to form choice A.
