I just took a 4 Topscore tests today. I took:

Biology: 17
Chem: 16
Orgo: 16
PAT: 20
RC: 20
OR: 18

Right now I'm trying to concentrate mainly on the Natural sciences. Can anyone give me feedback as to how I should perform on the real DAT with these topscore test scores seeing that I take my DAT's on 8/16. Thanks.

Hi!

I haven't taken my DAT yet. I will be taking in end of August. My friend who took the DAT last year told me that Topscore is more challenging in the science sections, but the PAT is a little easier than the real thing.

I echo what the last poster said. I went through this last year and the science section is more difficult on Topscore, but the PAT is easier. It looks like you are on the right track. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies everyone,

Omahahahaha, I have a question:

I'm still really nervous about my test date because I need to get at least an 18 across the board to be competitive. When you say that I'm on the right track, do you mean that the scores that I got on topscore are enough to get 18's or higher? Were these the scores you were getting on topscore and how much higher were your real DAT scores as opposed to your topscore scores (if you don;t mind me asking)? thanks.

Nismoboy,
I'll answer some of your questions because it's all still really fresh in my mind.
I took test 3 on Topscore about 5 days before taking the real DAT (which I just took wed!) and I got:

Bio: 19
Chem: 19
O. Chem: 19
PAT:23
RC:24
QR: 21

On the real DAT I got:

AA:23
Bio: 22
Chem: 21
O.Chem: 23
PAT:20
RC:27
QR: 21

This should sort of help you see the trend, in general the sciences are easier on the DAT, the PAT is harder on the DAT and the RC and QR are pretty similar to topscore. I did study the sciences quite a bit in those four days in between though.

I personally think that you are on a good track to getting 18's. Don't let up on your studying though because it's worth all of the effort that you can give it. I would definitely practice the PAT stuff, because as you can see mine went down by three whole points on the real test.

Good luck and keep at it!

Hope this helps.

Wow. The way some of you guys track your improvement is impressive.

I think typically the test taker will go up 2 to 3 points in every section from Top Score, except for the PAT which will go down 3 points. Granted, it does depend on the test taker and where in the range the test taker sits, but on average, I think this is true.

The reason I didn't take the QR yet was because, well, I needed a lunch break (I know we don't get a lunch break on the real DAT 😉 ...I wish) Also, I feel relatively confident on those sections, so right now I'm trying to concentrate mainly on the Natural sciences. Can anyone give me feedback as to how I should perform on the real DAT with these topscore test scores seeing that I take my DAT's on 8/16. Thanks.

I studied for eight weeks before taking the DAT. I used Kaplan and Topscore. I realy wanted to score a 21's in most catagories. The I never scored higher than 17's in most sections on Topscore and I almost decided not to take the DAT when I had planned because I wasn't scoring where I wanted to on the practice tests. With much anxiety (caused by low scores on Topscore) I went ahead with the real DAT and did fine (if you look past RC and QR--I must have fell asleep during those sections 😴 . You're probobly just fine

Wow msf41, you don't understand, you just made my day...I know for everyone it's different, but I pray that I can get good scores as you did...congrats and best of luck with the rest of you rapplication process. thanks everyone for the advice.

I am actually one of the rarities on the topscore/dat scores

I am was scoring 17 and 18's on the pat portion of the test on topscore when I was studying last year, so I thought I was screwed.

When I got my scores I got an 18!!! 😱

talk about a good surprise 😀 ended up with a 22/18😀
