Hey guys, does anyone know the correlation between your score on topscore as opposed to your score on the actual OAT? I just took a full practice test from the topscore cd and got bio =320, chem =300, ochem=300, verbal =300, physics =270 and QR= 270 and it gave me a AA and TS of 290?? I didnt get time to finish the orgo section and i left out like 7 questions. Im horrible at math and i dont know what happened wit physics. this was my first timed exam b/c the other exam i took was opted.org one...so I know i need to pick it up, but if i was to take the real OAT would that be the same score?

From what I have heard, you will do much better on the REAL thing. Topscore is hard!!! I have been studying for a long time and I still struggle with their questions!! Don't worry 😀

haha thanks i hope so...its wierd how its scored as well, b/c on the verbal section of exam 1, i got 30 questions right and ten wrong, which is 75% and it it scored me a 290 rather than 300??? how does that make any sense? i dont know if they score it based on the difficulty of the exam, but its def wierd. anyone else that took the topscore tests and real oat that can give me feedback? thanks so much! 😀

don't worry, i was getting low scores on the Topscore exams too! But the actual exam is a lot easier and I scored 30+ points higher on it.

hey slawson, topscore is a cd with three full practice OAT exams & more. It is a tool that is provided to get you used to the actual format of the real OAT. Some say that the topscore exams are harder than the real deal, i havent been averaging that high on the topscore exams, and im taking my real oat this saturday!!

i just took the OAT on monday and had been using the topscore software. I think i scored about 40+ points higher on the real test so dont let it discourage you. I think one reason it is so much harder is becuase the questions are more in depth and require more advanced knowledge of similar subjects tested on the OAT. I would definetly buy it again though because of the practice you get with the layout of the exam, and because if you are able to answer questions found on topscore you should be able to answer the less involved questions on the oat.

hey - i used topscore and also found it to be much harder than the actual oat (i probably scored around 30-40 points higher).

and yeah - they dont give solutions which i found extremely frustrating when i couldnt figure out how they got their answer. thats why i ended up getting achiever as well which i liked much better (it gives u solutions).

But to be honost, both of these really only helped me with working on my time and the RC section (which is the only thing i preferred topscore for- all the other sections were better in achiever). the questions were much more detailed than what we need to know and i freaked out when i got my scores on topscore and achiever becuase i thought i was going to bomb the oat, which thank gd i didnt -and i think thats prob mostly due to the destroyer. its q's were dead on and i really got a lot out of the book. its def something worth checking out.

HI niss11, I'm really worried about the physics section. Do you think I should get the OAT Achiever to help me? I'm using the destroyer also. Do you think that'll be enough? I'm worried because i keep getting 300s on the physics section from topscore, and i have no idea how to solve the ones that i missed. <sigh😡 I'm a little worried because i'll be taking my test in a week. Any advice would be great!

i wouldnt get the achiever just to help with the physics section - again, it really only helped me practice my time for each section - the questions were much more difficult than the ones i saw on the oat.

if i were you - id make review sheets for myself of all the main formulas and just keep going over them. than once your done with that- do some destroyer q's -and dont worry if you get a lot wrong - i got so many wrong and than scored a 380 in this section- probably because the destroyer q's make sure to cover every topic and so there are multiple step problems which can seem a bit harder. just focus on the concepts behind the q's that u got wrong and ull be fine....also....his word/graph problems will come in handy.

and finally to get a good idea of what to expect for this section - u should really check out the sample oat on opted. my physics sec was pretty similar to this - so dont worry about a 300 with topscore- test yourself with the sample test and that will give you a better idea of how you'll do on the real thing!
