Does anyone want to guess the total applications that will be completed (notice I didn't say verified) this year?

I am willing to say 37,000 for 2002. maybe we could have a contest so the closest person to the actual number wins something cool, like a SDN shirt!

Sounds fun.
My guess is............36,999. 😀

and please, no 36998's, that would be taking the joke too far. 😀

My guess is 35,058

How about a prediction in terms of percentage fall. I'll say it will fall 13% this year.

I'll take the low bid

$1.00 Bob

My guess is: 35900 😱

32,000

Doesn't matter because I walk like a pimp, talk like a mac

I'm going with 27,000...low?...why not? this is total submitted apps right?..not started... 😀

Jamier2: 73

Really, Jamier2? Who would those 73 be? I better be among those select few!

😉

What's with the huge discrepancy between "apps initiated" and "apps certified and submitted"?

Does that mean that thousands of applicants just gave up? (I find that hard to believe). Or is it a case of people in the very beginning of the process unknowingly initiating multiple apps merely because things were so screwed up? I just can't see why by September there would still be ~17,000 apps still sitting out there doing nothing.

In years past, apparently half of all apps submitted have been submitted in August. If that were to hold true this year, we would be at roughly 75% of the final number. Of course, who knows how the whole mess has affected the timing and numbers of applications. I'm guessing 26,000, just because I can't really believe it will fall below 25,000. But wouldn't it be nice? 🙂
Maybe there will be a silver lining to the dark AMCAS cloud. 😀

And Homer, a lot (exactly how many is the question, right?) of those 17,000 apps are undoubtedly being worked on, and more will likely be initiated. After all, it's still a while until deadlines roll around, and a lot (all?) have been extended. And lots of folks don't have SDN to help them through the process. I really feel for them!
