totally confused

🙂 Ok I apoligize if this question has been asked I have read AACOMS's FAQ's and SDN FAQ'S and am still a little confused my goal was always to apply early in the admissions cycle as I hoped it would strenghten my chances with increased gpa and such [w/ NYCOM being my top choice] my hope was to be part of the next entering class for '12. Hoping to finish my 1st year before I hit 30.

My plan is as follows

Summer/ Fall 07 - continue and probaby finish Post Bachelor coursework
Winter 08 Study/Take MCATS.
I believe AACOMAS 'opens' up in May or June-ish if I sennd in my transcripts for the next cycle in June I will still be missing MCAT's and some pre-req's as I will finish them in Dec 07, w/MCATs following.
Also maybe retake a few classes this semester and NYCOM hopeful for 08 or am I totally screwed and have to wait that extra yr?

so is it a better choice to apply/early like sending in stuff in june even though i wont have grades till dec. i assume my app is put on 'hold' than submitting my app in dec even though i wont have mcat scores till april or will schoolrs not even extend an intervieww till my mcat scores?
yeah and i kmow my explaining doesnt make it any clearer

I applied without physics II, they called me and asked if I am planning to take it before Augist 2007. I told them that I am taking it now. I got my acceptance letter which was dated before I sent them an update about A in physics class. Therefore I think apply early and try to get 24+ on your MCAT🙂

i think, and please correct me if i am wrong, that without MCAT scores, your AACOMAS app wont even get sent out to schools. it will get sent out if you are missing classes, but not without that damned MCAT.

so you may want to think about putting off applying another year, or trying to rework your schedule to take the MCAT sooner if possible.

Since the MCAT is offered many more times during the year, you should take advantage of taking it earlier than later. Many students take the MCAT and apply to medical school before all the pre-reqs have been finished. As long as you learn the material for the MCAT and finish the courses before matriculation, you will be just fine. Best of luck.
