With the ROL opening up in less than a month, are we supposed to/suggested to "touch base" with the programs that we interviewed at and plan on ranking? I've always sent a thank you note to every program within two days of interviewing there and I'm not sure if we're supposed to "flirt" with them when it comes closer to the "end game" of all of this. If we are supposed to do this (and I'm not neurotic), what the heck are we supposed to say? I remember reading a post about something similar but I can't seem to find it now. What's everyone else doing?

What I've understood from the discussion here is that besides the thank yous we can't say much to change a PD's mind. I do want to know how the pros weigh in. I can't figure out what to say and how to say it either so I hope this isn't a crucial part of the process.

You may not "change their mind" if you were at the bottom of their list, but I'd imagine that you could improve your image a little bit if you're a borderline candidate. If nothing else, I think it'd be useful if the PD just sees your name in writing one more time to help solidify their memory of you.

If you send a note soon after your interview thanking XYZ for taking the time to interview you or coordinate the interview day, that is sufficient. No need to "touch base" with them again.
