Dudes gotten on my nerves a thousand times.

Dudes practically made MilMD buy an assault rifle for some virtual sniper fire.

BUTCHA KNOW WHAT?

I'm beginning to realize TOUGHLIFE is our future.

He's young, becoming well trained, and has a SWAGGA about him that, accompanied with his interest in politics, could be a silver bullet in our currently-totally-completely-politically inferior American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Lets face it.

To be a savvy, successful politician, you've gotta have some innate PITBULL in you. You've gotta be smart, yes.

But you also haffta have something in your gut.....something in your gut about a certain cause that DRIVES YOU TO FIGHT.

TOUGH HAS DEMONSTRATED THAT HE HAS THE EDUCATION, THE DESIRE, AND THE PITBULL TO FIGHT FOR OUR CAUSE, WHICH IS TO THWART PARAPROFESSIONAL THREATS. (I think the CRNA-fight to enter the PAIN arena woke me up to how slanderous the AANA is.....look....I'm a pretty good gunslinger in our specialty. Consider that arrogant? Doesnt matter. Its true. As are the other experienced hands in this forum.....Mil, Noy, UT, Plank, et al.....but NONE OF US would CONSIDER entering a realm of medicine we werent intimately trained in....and for the AANA to try and endorse NURSES into a FELLOWSHIP TRAINED MEDICAL SPECIALTY......PAIN MANAGEMENT............I'm at a loss for words for the slander thats occurring.)

I think it would be shortsighted to ignore his tenacity, motivation, and willingness to pursue the political realm most of us yawn at.

SO WHAT I AM DOING IS RECOGNIZING A DIAMOND IN THE RUFF AMONGST US IN THE POLITICAL FRONT.

AND THAT DIAMOND IN THE RUFF IS TOUGHLIFE.

NO OTHER MEMBER OF THIS FORUM, NOR MORE IMPORTANTLY IN THE ASA, HAS SHOWN THE SWAGGA NOR ACTION IN THE POLITICAL ARENA LIKE TOUGH.

There are no radicals in the ASA.

Just more bow tie wearing dudes. I think ROIZEN couldda made a major impact but he's making millions on other fronts....so he aint gonna bother....

TOUGH IS KINDA RADICAL. AND I THINK THATS WHAT WE NEED AT THIS POINT.

As his political ventures continue, we need to ENDORSE his efforts......whatever that means.

Opening doors for the dude, sending him hotel cash, whatever.

I'm very politically unmotivated.

But I can recognize greatness when I see it.

Tough is an upcomer in our political corner, I predict.

We need to stand behind him.

TOUGH HAS MY RESPECT.

AND HE SHOULD HAVE YOURS.

HE IS ONE OF OUR FUTURE LEADERS.

JPP thanks for the kind words. I believe we need some new ideas and a fresh approach to protect our specialty from the paraprofessionals. We just can't let up.

TL and I definitely had our arguments a couple of years ago, but I always appreciated his tenacity. Hope to meet you in Orlando 😉

Speaking of Orlando we should have an SDN meet-up for a couple of brew-dogs. It would be fun - not only are we bonded by anesthesiology but also our love of guns, money (stock market), cars per the posts on here. Would make for a fun night.

JET and MIL got the tab...

If I can swing it, I'll pick up the tab👍...but I've already got 2 folks on leave from my group, so I'm thinking Jet will have to pick it up himself.

I'm in.... anyone know a bar where we could meet? I haven't been to Orlando since I was eight years old.

WOW...cant believe JPP actually said the words he just did👍👍

Tough's had my support since Day 1

This is a very important cause. I'm ecstatic that more and more people are recognizing the urgency, whatever one's impetus was.

All this talk of political motivation....if you haven't read it, go to the CRNA debates section and read UTSW's latest dissertation in the CRNA vs. MD thread. We can all learn a lesson from him b/c he lays it out in an intelligent, cohesive manner without overt bashing of CRNAs. I know that I can at times let my passions become too inflamed and this can often drown out the intended message.

Tough, congrats on the ASA position. I'm hoping to become more involved as well. I know of many at my program who are looking to become more politically involved; our program director is also the new state society president.
