what do taste buds from ant 2/3 of tongue come from?
Filiform papilla takes care of the ant. 2/3 but it has lack of taste buds so where does it come from?

if u damage the CN12.....the tounge moves towards the affected side....is this bc of the damage hyoglossus or genioglossal?

The tongue is developed from all pharyngeal arches embryonically, but I think arch 1 specifically is responsible for anterior 2/3. There are plenty of fungiform papillae for taste sensation. The deviation resulting from damage comes from injury to the nerve NOT the muscle.

Hope that helps!

Yepp, u rite decan, for ant 2/3 just to be a little more specific, its the ecto derm of first arch, while the post 1/3 is from the endoderm just like the rest of pharyngeal mucosa.

In the second Qn, i guess along with the nerve which obviously is hypoglossal its asking which muscle is causing the same side movt. which is the genioglossus muscle(protrudes the tongue). Cannot be hyoglossus, it normally depresses the tongue.

Also filiform papillae do not contain taste buds, so no taste sensation through them.
