Has anyone received an acceptance letter from Touro College? Is anyone planning on attending Touro next fall of 2012? I need advice on picking school

Did you receive an email from them that ur aplication is in review process because I did around december 13 but still did not hear anything from them ??
I received an email Dec 27th stating that my acceptance was contingent on the completion of 25 hours in an acute-care facility (hospital) and the completion of pre-calc with a minimum grade of a C. I mailed my deposit today and I will be attending the Bayshore campus come Fall 2012.

Is it NY or NV? I have been hearing very bad things about both NY campuses. I have a friend who currently attends the manhattan campus and she hates it. She says that the professors do not prepare you for the PT exam and that the "lab" classes are horrible. I still want to visit the bay shore campus to see it for myself but the Manhattan "campus" is pretty small and the equipment is outdated
Same here! This along with the $1000 deposit Touro wants scared me away...

Can only give my opinion on Touro University NV -- I have visited 6 campus out of the 9 applied to-- so far and was impressed w/ the facilities, staff, response time and answers to my questions at TUN. Nothing outdated in NV. I am glad the bad things are in regards to NY campuses. 🙂
hey guys my boss is a pretty well established pt on long island. I asked him about touro and he told me it really doesn't matter what school you go to. All PT schools prepare you for the board exam. They mostly teach you the same thing they just have different methods of teaching it. You can gauge how good a school is by the passing rate on the board.
These stats where taken directly from touros website.
DPT Program Outcomes
Graduation: For the classes of 2007 through 2009, the average graduation rate was 89%.
Licensure: For the classes of 2006 through 2008, the average pass rate on the national licensure exam was 89%.
Employment: More than 95% of our graduates from the latest graduating class were employed in full-time clinical positions within 6 months of graduation.
Now the question is are you willing to study and work hard enough to be part of the 89% who pass the boards?
Once you are employed is when the real learning starts. You pick up tricks and tips from older PT and you work hard enough to make a name for you self.
The school doesn't matter. Touro is an accredited DPT school with a 90% passing rate on the boards. I would say those are pretty good statistics.

Hey new to the forum here and I was just wondering how long ago did you guys apply, those that got accepted? I was in the process of applying to Touro, NV but unfortunately my grandfather passed away. I have just finished my essays and am finishing up my application and will be submitting it tomorrow at the latest. I know it is recommended to apply 4-5 weeks prior to the deadline, do you guys think their is still hope for an interview? Those who may not know the PTCAS deadline is March 1st. Thank you!
I applied in august and heard back around them in december. There is no interview for Touro College NY but I am not sure about Touro NV. I know a few people who have interviewed in March and got accepted. So dont lose hope

I spoke to someone at touro today and they said the class for both campuses are just about full. they are waiting to hear if a few people will accept and send the deposit and if not then they will start calling people on the waiting list
Do not go to Touro. I chose Touro because it was the least expensive of my options and it was the biggest mistake of my life. My class started with 34 people and in our 5th semester we are down to 26. They failed almost 25% of the class out by the end of 4th semester. With 1 exception, the staff could not care less about the students. Instead of helping you to succeed they try their hardest every semester to 'weed people out'. Everything is a disorganized mess, which makes succeeding that much harder and the quality of the education in most of the classes is terrible. No one gets the clinical placements they want and the professors are constantly leaving or being fired. Honestly the program is a complete scam. Please invest in a better program, you will not regret it.
