  1. Pre-Pharmacy
Hi guys! Just another comparison thread, hoping that you guys can give me opinions on these schools, as I'm probably going to have to decide between them eventually. So far, I've gathered as follows:

1. UoP has the better reputation
2. Both are in slummy areas
3. UoP is pricier?
4. Touro has a much smaller class size. This may or may not make up for its shakier reputation, as I heard it's on the uphill as of late, and improving. Supposed the faculty is very supportive and caring for each individual student, which has its obvious benefits. UoP is very large, so I'd imagine the small school atmosphere would be completely absent. Not sure if this affects student bonding, education quality, etc.
5. UoP supposedly has their pre-pharm program thing, which I heard may make incoming students somewhat 'clickey' if you are a transfer student
6. On the other hand, because UoP is larger it has a better campus (aka not random navy base) and possibly more options for living/studying. Also supposedly UoP has a carrying/friendly atmosphere as well.
7. UoP is accelerated; but then again, Touro has the 2-2 program, which is 'different' also. Not sure if these things are 'good' or 'bad'. Supposedly the 2-2 is a 'good' thing, but I'm not entirely certain.

Honest opinions appreciated, much thanks!

Since Touro costs less, you should choose that one. This factor will have the largest influence on your life, and for the longest time. Each school will copy and paste your lecture notes from the same references. You should look into what all of the "extra classes" consist of, since pharmacy school includes a fairly large number of worthless classes that dont have much to do with pharmacy. Or whichever school has easier freeway access to northern CA so that you can start looking into towns that you are willing to live in when you try to find pharmacist jobs. Good luck to you.

from opportunity cost point, UOP is the cheapest, because you graduate 1 year earlier and can earn 100k 1 year earlier.

FWIW, I see more Pacific students succeed better on rotations and subsequently in the employment/residency market as well. UOP has the better reputation overall and would select it over Touro given the choice.

Like others stated go with whichever is cheapest. Although since they are both in Cali they are prob way overpriced either way.

2+2 is awesome I think. Less time spent in BS classes and more time in rotations which are where most of the learning occurs. Also its hard to manage an internship at UoP bc you're in school year round. I would imagine living @ UoP > > > touro though. It depends how old you are though, if you're kinda older I would just do 3 years and get it out of the way. I was in a similar situation, extremely stuck between two schools (not these) and I ended up picking one. Honestly, if you are really stuck between two options, some days you are going to like your decision and some days you wish you had went the other route. Just know that it's kinda inevitable lol.

Thanks all for the input. Appreciate it!

Hi, I am also currently in the same situation in making my decision between Touro and UOP. A major factor that is influencing my decision is my current job at a hospital in Southern California has already guaranteed me an internship for me to return to between my summer at pharmacy school. However, if I attend UOP, I will not be able to return to socal during the summers to intern, and my spot will be given to someone else. I've worked at this hospital for two years and honestly have enjoyed my experience there incredibly and have potential goals to try and apply for the residency positions here as well (and therefore its important for me to maintain my connections here). I know rotations are assigned on a random basis to UOP students as well, but since UOP has such a strong reputation, I feel like the connections there could be potentially very valuable. The appeal of the three year program is also a major pro factor for UOP. However, I am worried that if I plan to do clinical pharmacy, I won't have enough experience in that area if I attend UOP, whereas Touro's 2+2 program offers 2 full years of rotational experiences. So conflicted 😕
