I thought I would start a thread for Touro-MI applicants who have been waitlisted so that we can more easily access one another and maybe get a better 'guesstimate' on the movement of the waitlist (and provide encouragement and support for one another!). By listing our interview dates, WL status, tier level and acceptance date, perhaps we can find a trend to the waitlist movement.
By looking at the general waitlist forum and an LOI for Touro forum- I have came up with 11 Touro-MI waitlisted applicants so far and would be interested to see if there are more of us on here.

misspiti you were more than likely in tier 1. In Dr. H's updated letter he stated that people would be pulled from tier 1 then tier 2 of the high wL. just so you know...🙂

Hey there, did you here that from anyone in the admissions office? I check my email waaaaay too often, because I think the offers are made through email. That would be so cool to get good news this week. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I got an email fwd a few days ago sayin I would get the good news I had been waiting to hear at 11am the next day if I forwarded it to all my friends... I hate sending forwards but I couldnt resist on that one... I think they understood haha-

Keep83 I wish your feeling that they would send out another round of acceptances this week was true, but I remember hearing from either Dr. H or Lynn Huckle that they would convene and decide on offers as space became available... I didn't think it was an every two weeks type of thing. But I hope your right... we're getting very close to school starting!

nope! still no offers, my superstitious side got the best of me that day... 5 weeks left😱... i'm trying my best to enjoy my first responsibility-free summer since high school... but this waiting is killing me.

I emailed Dr. H about that yesterday and he said they had had only one withdraw in the last three weeks. Not much movement at all

No he didn't. It seems that a lot of waitlists are moving slowly this year. Hopefully they do pick up soon.

I am working on my medical schools applications, but REALLY don't want to apply and spend the money again if I am going to get accepted... which I had thought was def. going to happen, but as time passes I am having trouble being optimistic...

I hear ya on having trouble being optimistic. I was thinking I would for sure have heard good news by now...
I retook the MCAT on May 31st, so I'm going to wait to resubmit until I find out how I did.
Do you know how many people get offered early accept for the following year? I feel like we have to have a good chance at that!

I am not sure how many they early accept- they say almost all the high waitlist and sometimes medium... but since there hasn't been much movement so far this year, it makes me wonder if perhaps they won't be able to early accept as many of us as they may have in the past.
Good Luck on your MCAT retake? Do you think you improved? My husband has been on me to retake it, and maybe I will have to go ahead and do that come August... yuck! 🙄

Dr. H told me in an email the other day that he would be sending out another update letter to everyone probably next week. You might want to ask him about rounds of acceptances though... I thought they just occured as space opened....

Oh my gosh that is so exciting. Just when I was starting to get depressed about the waitlist movement, a surge of hope comes! What did you ask him exactly? When I ask details about the waitlist he never gives specific answers...Did he say how many offers to the first tier have been made so far?

And I know the committee extended offers to four people from the waitlist yesterday... are there more open seats already?

The letters they're sending out are just update letters I think.. as for the phone calls I believe those are for the people who are being accepted off the waitlist. Anyway, I asked if they have been accepting from the 2nd tier on the high waitlist and was told, 'maybe yes and maybe no.' Go figure.

Well I found out the hard way today that the Urban Legend about the girl who missed her acceptance phone call and got passed over really happens.
I got a call today with an offer to join the class of 2011 from Touro-MI. I am a House Director at a Sorority and there was a fire at our house Sunday night and I was dealing with insurance men and fire inspectors when my phone rang and the caller ID said 'Restricted'. Not answering because I didn't want to be rude to the man I was on the phone with, I missed the call. 25 Minutes had passed by the time I checked my messages and had called Touro back, and the spot was already filled. 🙁

I am now crossing my fingers that someone else withdraws today and that they will call me in the next 4 hours (by 5pm Pacific time) since Orientation starts tomoorow. I just thought I would share this with you guys, people who know how frustrating and disappointing this is.

Anyone else heard any news from Touro?
