Hi guys! I just received an interview invitation for Touro, and I was wondering if anyone else has interviewed here?? Any tips?? How did it go? Do they accept a Skype interview? I live in Hawaii so it would be hard for me to travel to Nevada for the interview. ANY feedback would be great!!
 
When did you submit your application? And when is the interview?
 
I submitted the supplemental application about 2 weeks ago. The interview is January 5
 
I applied October 10, and finished the supp app the first week of Nov. I got an email yesterday saying that I got wait listed for an interview. I hope one opens before they accept everyone.
 
I'm in the process of submitting my secondary application. Does anyone know if we have to submit one observation form for all our observation experiences? Or do we need separate forms for every setting?

I called the admissions counselor and he said they only do on-campus interviews. No Skype interviews.

I submitted separate forms for every setting.

I heard! 🙁 Charles e-mailed me back saying that. Junk! This will be very costly for me to do an interview for not even a guaranteed acceptance.
Anyone know how the interviews are like?
 
I have heard that interview days at Touro are 6 hour events that start at about 8am and last through the afternoon. You should be given lunch, and there is a group activity somewhere in there.

That's exactly what I thought! I'm from Texas so it would be expensive for me as well. 🙁 I'm actually thinking about not even completing the secondary app. Is it really worth it? 🤔
 
So I applied to Touro on 9/20. I never heard anything from them except for confirmation that my app was received and that I should hear about any admissions decisions within two weeks. I tried to be patient, but did not hear anything. I emailed admissions over a month ago asking for a status update and never heard back. I got an email last week telling me that I'm on a waitlist to interview. I was never invited to fill out the supplemental app. So I emailed again and still have not heard back. Has this happened to anyone else? I thought that maybe Touro doesn't do supplemental apps, but from what I've read here, it looks like they do.

It's really up to you. I'm not sure either :/ My plan is that I'm going to go to the last avaiilable interview date (ending of February) and if I don't get into any other programs before then I'll go to the interview.

They do have the supplemental application. I had to fill it out.

That's strange. I don't understand why they would put me on a waitlist for an interview without inviting me to fill out the supplemental app.

Congrats on the interview though. I went to Touro's open house in September and I have shadowed two of their OT graduates who gave me tips on the interview process.

Yeah that is a little strange. I don't understand these admissions committees sometimes haha

If I remember right, you will have an interview with admissions, an interview with a few faculty members, tour the campus, attend an information session, have lunch, and participate in a group activity. Probably not in that order. It is a long day. Someone will be watching during the group activity to see how well you do working in a group.

Ah, I see. Interesting. I guess that's why they don't do phone or Skype interviews. Thanks!
 
Hey guys, I stumbled upon this blog when I was researching Touro. http://mdashleyportfolio.weebly.com/
I hope it helps anyone who wants to know what it's like being a student there. I was invited to interview, but somehow missed the deadline to respond before they retracted the offer. It's all good though, I learned more about the program and it wasn't the right fit for me. Good luck to anyone interviewing!
 
I just received my acceptance email from Touro today! 🙂 I interviewed 1/12. Has anyone else heard back??

Thank you, I really hope I get accepted! I interviewed first. I have brunette hair, glasses, and was wearing the black skirt suit. What about you?
 
hey i have a touro question. i got the email from them saying they have received my application from touro on dec 26th and i have yet to hear anything from them. how long did it take for them to get in touch with you after receiving your application from otcas? should i email them to chase them down for an update?

My application was complete on September 25th and I received an invitation to interview on December 7th. So it took awhile. It wouldn't hurt to email them for an update, but I know that they are very busy right now.

when did or did you have to submit the supplemental application before the interviews correct? when was that email if you dont mind me asking.. im over here freaking out since its been almost 4 weeks since ive heard anything. im gonna email them today

I believe it takes about two weeks to receive an invitation to fill out the supplemental application. My case was a little different though. I had to contact the admissions counselor because I was put on the waitlist to interview without receiving an invitation to fill out the supplemental app. I would suggest sending them an email or calling for an update.

I interviewed in the second group. I have blonde hair and was the first one to introduce myself in the morning with Charles.

Just to let those of you still waiting for an interview know. They are still offering interviews! I was just contacted the other day for a Feb 9th date.

I believe we were! I am still trying to decide between a couple other schools, but I will be making my decision soon.
 
Just got invited for an interview without sending in the supplementary app. Is this normal?

Yeah I interviewed 1/12 as well and I got accepted the same day! What a relief. Are you going to attend there?

I got into Touro and AT Still but I am going to attend Touro. What schools are you deciding between?

I was deciding between Abilene Christian University, A.T. Still, Loma Linda, and Touro. I ended up choosing Loma Linda. Best of luck to you!
 
i heard so many bad things about touro, i didnt even bother applying

I was in the first group to interview. I'm the guy that's from Utah.
 
I heard from current students 2 years ago, they were very disorganized and during the field work they really did not know what was going on. But then again it was 2 years ago, so things might have changed
 
Last application cycle I interviewed either on the first interview date or second but I was waitlisted and I never made it out. This year I applied and I am on the waitlist to interview.... But I don't mind since when I interviewed last year I strongly disliked the campus, did not like that the curriculum is somewhat fast paced, and that we had to buy and use a windows laptop throughout the entire program... Great professors and staff tho!

Touro is my second pick and I am still waiting to hear back from the university of Utah. But if I don't get accepted there then I will for sure be going to Touro.
 
I submitted an application awhile back. In January I was asked to fill out a supplemental application. I just finished it yesterday and was invited to an interview a week before completing the supplemental application. My interview date is 2/23.
Does anyone who had an interview already remember any questions they asked? It sounds like they technically do 2 interviews and a group activity. Any advice would be extremely helpful!!

Hi, the group interview takes place before the couple individual interviews. It starts with a team work activity, then one of the faculty member will ask questions towards the entire group after it's done. Some questions include:
What did you learn from this group activity?
What were some difficulties the group experienced?
How can you improve working as a group?

Some of the individual interview questions were:
Why is Touro a good fit for you?
What contributed to your decision to become an OT?
What do you like to do for fun?
Tell me about the place you volunteered.
