An attending is willing to write a traditional LOR and also the CORDEM SLOR for me. Is there any benefit or disadvanatge to him attaching the traditional LOR to the SLOR form? Or is that bad, uh, form. Is it even allowed? It would make it easier to send just one big LOR than designate two different LORs from the same person to my registrar and to ERAS. When faced with the offer of a SLOR and traditional LOR, I'm guessing that I should stick with the SLOR, but is there a dissenting opinion on this? Thanks!

I don't see why they can't fill our the SLOR and write the traditional letter and under the "additional comments" section say (please see attached page). LORs can be more than one page long. Some hardliners love those SLORs, so I wouldn't forgo it.

Mike is right. When I did that, I sent them together and they were posted as a single letter.

Is the SLOR intended to stand alone or do most attendings include a traditional letter with the SLOR to further describe the applicants' qualifications?

If I am getting LOR from ER attendings, then I must give them a SLOR right?

Thanks!

could someone list exactly how an lor is different from an slor? i understand an lor is more of a narrative, and an slor has all of the eras requirements, but is there some other difference? thanks!

Do most attendings just write a blurb in the comments section or the SLOR or is it more common to attach a typewritten letter to the SLOR?

Blurb about 80% of the time.
