My school (in Canada) stopped issuing paper transcripts since the start of pandemic. When I emailed AMCAS, I was told they only accept etranscripts from Parchment and National Student Clearinghouse. I am so confused. Does that mean I cannot apply? Please help.

Google “parchment transcript services” or “National clearinghouse transcript service”. It gives you the whole process. It’s all electronic and you place the order through the transcript service. They handle the rest including contacting the school. Not sure how Canadian schools are dealt with but you can search the service to see if your school is listed.

You need to go back to your school. You can't possibly be the only person seeking to apply to med school in the US, can you? Your school will tell you what to do, but yeah, either they participate with either Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse, they will make an exception and send a paper transcript to AMCAS, or you will not be applying to MD schools in the US this year, other than in Texas, which does not require an official transcript in order to submit an application.

Which school do you go to? I'm also in Canada and am shocked a university would stop sending official paper transcripts.

I took some classes at Ryerson and they don’t use either National Student Clearhouse nor Parchment …

My school uses a different portal (MyCreds) which isn’t approved by the AMCAS. They also stopped issuing paper transcripts due to covid.

Hey @hello-doc , wondering if you figured out a work around with sending Ryerson transcripts to AMCAS? I also took some courses there, and I'm little late to getting this all organized, so I am just realizing now that the service that Ryerson uses is not approved by AMCAS and I also do not see an option to request a physical copy. Would appreciate any guidance!

Hello, No worries at all. Just email the registers office and let them know that you want them to forward your transcript to AMCAS. After 1 month of emails back and forth, Ryerson now has permission to email etranscripts to AMCAS for the 2021 - 2022 cycle. Just make sure you attach your AMCAS transcript form with your request. Once they send your transcript, it takes a about a week for your transcript status to be updated. Hope this helps.
