It's come to this.
Ok SDNers, the sitch:
To include or not to include a transcript... you might think this is an ethical question, but it's really a procedural one. Or is it? I'm going for wisdom of the crowds...
AMCAS requires transcripts from all (i) post-secondary institutions, reflecting, (ii) college level courses taken... no matter whether credit was earned, transferred, or swept under the rug.
Yet, on a whim, I took a course some years back that was provided by a university extension school and it was non-credit, i.e. you could not transfer the credits even if you wanted to because there were none to be had. You could call it a career certificate course in, say, accounting. We did receive grades however, and my grade was dismal to say the least because the class was terrible and I cut my losses and stopped going. And, they provide transcripts.
So is this a post-secondary institution? (probably yes due to its affiliation with a university, even though NONE of its extension school classes are transferable to college). Is it a college-level course? I don't think so.
But, what do you think? We all know it won't be calculated in my GPA since it was non-credit, thank goodness. But, does this fall under AMCAS's required transcript rules? (Do I really have to go to the trouble of faxing/paying for the durn transcript request, risk having another moving part, and include this mistake of a class that looks like a little zit in my application?). PS, My GPA is run of the mill.
Thank you, wise SDNers.
