Senior year: 1999
Involved in pretty bad head on car accident. Hospitalized with head trauma.
School was immediately notified and all professors/GSI's knew of the situation, as this was during finals week. I was not able to return to school until the following year. Finished up with two classes, and aside from a few scars - all is good...or so I thought.
My dilemma: I had taken all finals but one - molecular biology.
I was able to graduate and all was well - UNTIL - when I decided to go back to school for my post bac, I saw a huge "F" - actually it was an "ILE" that I believe codes for an "F" in terms of GPA.
This kills the GPA and is a scarlet letter on the AMCAS.
I was an English major and this class was not part of my major, and did not fill any req.
I was unaware that this would happen. Instead of having the grade prior to the final (B-) I was given the Incomplete which later translated into an "E."
My question: Could this be petitioned? If so, to whom? I could request all the hospitalization records - notifications to the prof.
The timing sucks as this event occured 5 years ago.
Thoughts?
