Hello to all!! I was reading another thread that included talk about receiving a "W" in a class. I have one "W" on my transcript and now it is bugging me. I feel that my GPA is strong at a 3.75 cumm with a 3.70 in the sciences. I am a senior biology and business major. I honestly have a legitimate excuse and have no reason at all to lie about my "W". Therefore, I am not trying to "hide" my academic record.
As for the DAT, that is in MAY. So, I have to wait for the official outcome of my test scores. Hopefully this will not have an effect on my acceptance to dental school. What do you think? Thanks!!!

A single W isn't a problem at all in my mind. Like you mentioned, you have a reason for withdrawing. That doesn't mean you're stupid, it means you understand that your learning has limits and that under certain circumstances you find learning difficult. Some would call that maturity. 🙂

Thanks for the response. That is a good way to look at the situation. Honestly, I dropped the class because the teacher was the most miserable man that I have ever met. I would watch him curse at students for asking him questions at HIS office hours. I then went to ask him a question for personal clarification and he lost his composure with me. I decided to drop the class because I did not want to sacrifice my moral standards. I treat others with respect and I expect to be treated with the same respect.
I know that I may be presented with some similar situations throughout my life and even in private practice, but I just did not want to compromise myself for one class. I have had no problems in my classes (I am not being cocky; I just want to explain the situation) and I would personally stay in any class no matter the grade. I wonder if an admissions committee would view me as "incompatible" because of that story/"W". Thanks!!

Just curious, how many W's would you all feel are too many?
