Hi Guys!

I haven't been on SDN in a while! I had a quick question if anyone could give me some insight. Does anyone know what the capability of being able to transfer between dental schools after like your first year? Is it practically impossible? I was just curious... do I practically have to make all A's? I was wondering because I will be going to a out of state dental school but want to practice in Texas when I get out of school so I was going to take the TX boards... but I heard that is a tedious process so I wondering what my options could be to try to transfer back into a TX school after my first year...
I guess I am starting to get nervous....
😕
Thanks!

I was under the impression that Texas accepted the WREB. Is this wrong?

Here is a link to the WREB page. Just click on "General Information" when you get there. It says that Texas and Oklahoma joined the WREB in 1994. Does your school not give the WREB?

you won't be able to transfer dental schools. it'd say it's 99.5% impossible.

transferring is going to be nearly impossible. i have heard that it has been done but i'm not sure under what cirumstances or even how to go about doing that. i imagine your situation would have to be very unique and both deans would have to be involved. in addition to stellar grades, different programs have different curriculums every semester which could be a major road block to transferring...

i'm in the same situation as you - from texas and going to the east coast for dental school but plan on coming back to texas to practice. my school offers the NERB which is now accepted in texas so coming back shouldn't be a problem...

from what i understand you can practice in any state after you pass the boards for any state. transferring to the school/state you want to attend may just be easier since the moving process but thats about it. but it is hard to transfer from dental schools.

longhorn and ATX, looks like us Texans are headed to beantown...look at you two, wanting to come back so quick!! 😉

Initially, I thought about transferring out after a year, but I have a feeling that when Im there, I will want to stay all 4 years. Should be a good time. 👍

Thanks guys! I don't understand that whole Board Exam deal yet. I was gonna try to figure it out once I start school in the fall. But thank you for clarifying....hopefully BU offers the exams that Tx will take. I don't know anything about how to do that.... THANK YOU AGAIN!

Yeah, dont worry about it too much...BU offers the necessary exams so that you can come straight back to Texas and practice.
