Transfer to another school's PharmD program??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Why do you want to transfer? Sorry for being nosy!

Every school has a different curriculum. While I'm sure it's possible to transfer to another school and have some of your classes transfer with you, I can almost assure you that you will have to retake some classes or be behind in your progress.

If you're seriously considering this, you should have a very good reason for doing so. My advice (depending on the situation) is to just suck it up and finish at the school you're currently in. Pharmacy school is only a few years out of your life. You can get through it.

We just got a transfer student this year for the P2 class so it is possible. And I heard of students from my school transferring out. But mine is a three year school so I think the transfer opportunities in or out is limited to a small number of schools.

there are a few threads on this already. It's possible but difficult and pre-reqs are different. I looked into it but decided it was not worth it despite really, really wanting to move (personal, not school reasons).

Yeah I was a bit depressed about my school at the beginning of P1 (and before that, as I am in a 0-6) and was looking to transfer, but the prereqs and the course sequence are different at every school, so I really couldn't. Honestly, what will you save, 30-35k if you transfer into P2? It's really not worth it, as you will make much more than that in your lifetime earnings, and it's really a lot of effort to transfer. Plus, even if you don't like your program, it will probably grow on you, and you won't think it's so bad eventually.

It will go by so quickly, you'll be where I am a few years from now wondering why you really wanted to leave. When I found out I would need at least 2 pre-reqs and likely have to repeat my P2 year, I decided hell no, not worth it.

You'll be done before you know it and you can do your p4 rotations wherever you want!
