Does anyone have an experience transferring undergrad schools? I need to transfer and I wanted to know if you lost credits at all. Do they give you all your earned credits or do they give you credits based on the classes they offer? Thanks.

They will give you credit based on what they offer. Losing credit in a transfer is pretty much guaranteed, especially if you have a lot of upper division credits. The university I am currently attending for post-bac took 102 of my 124 credit B.A.

Check out the school you are transferring to. Sometimes they have tables that show the class equivalences of the most popular schools from which they get transfers from.

The only way to know is to check. A friend of mine transfered from one UC to another and now he needs to retake LifeScience ls1,2,3,4 again! and that was from one UC to the other! He's fighting now with consular

I transferred from Tulane University to the University of Florida when Katrina hit and UF gave me credit for all of the classes that I took; however, they requested that I retake their biology 2 class even though I had taken bio 1 and 2 at Tulane. Also, since some of the classes were not offered at Florida they gave me credit for the department as a 0000 class. For example they counted by bio 2 class as a BIO 0000, simply because the title and brief course description did not match theirs.

You have to work it out with the school, and they have the final say on what credits will transfer.

While in undergrad I transferred from a smaller liberal arts college to a state university within the same state and though I lost no credit hours they didn't necessarily transfer to the same category I earned them in. Because of this I did have to retake some classes, but the university also waived some required lower level class. Take the advice of the previous posters and find out exactly what will be accepted before commiting to a transfer. Good luck.
