transfering?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's extremely rare and limited to serious personal circumstances I believe.

Is it possible to transfer from an osteopath school to an allopath school?

Most people who ask this question are those who dont feel they have the application to get into an allopathic school so they figure they could gain acceptance to a DO school then transfer.

Well, if thats the case realize it is far easier to keep trying to get into MD school that it would be to get into DO school and then try to transfer.

Like other posters have stated, it is much harder to gain a transfer admission to an allo school from an osteo school than to gain a straight up admission to an allo school. For starters you would need a compelling personal reason for wanting to transfer, and many allo schools either do not take any transfers or only take transfers from other LCME accredited schools.

My advice to you is to give serious consideration on whether or not you would be happy as a DO. If you do not think you will be happy as a DO, you need to strengthen your application so you can gain admission to an allo school. If not there is always the caribbean.
