I just finished an associates with a not low but an unacceptable GPA. My plan is to take a serious of classes in order to bring the GPA up. There is one question though, I am going to sign up for classes in a week for the first time at 4 year school since I just completed community college. I suddenly became interested in changing major, business to bio.

Is it possible to talk to the admissions office to discuss changing major and therefore allowing me to start a new degree "new gpa"? I figured this because I will essentially pay the same amount of money to bring my gpa up as I would for a new degree.

As far as debt goes I paid out of pocket for the years I completed so as of now I have no debt. I would complete a degree at the new school I have been accepted to and would forego the other associates degree I gained in CC.

Some schools classify specific classes as "major-only" classes in which you have to be registered for that particular major at that school. Contact the administration office asap to see if you qualify for change of major. Do you have any science classes completed at all? If not, it might be hard to change your major. With that said, you cannot wipe your gpa clean. Though your gpa at your 4-year will be 0.00, an apparent fresh start, when you apply to medical school, all grades (including your CC grades) will be calculated into your cumulative GPA.

If your gpa is as bad as you say it is, then you should try taking classes where you know you have a better chance of getting A's. Jumping from business to science with an already low gpa, seems quite challenging.

Good luck.

I had a lot of responsibilities for the first two years. It was only this past winter I decided to change a few things. In winter I managed a 3.8, in the spring a 3.8, and this summer I don't expect anything under 3.8. Since winter I have taken around 40 credits.
