Hi I'm a freshman at NYU stern and I want to transfer out because 1) I dislike the school environment -it's too big and dispersed and 2)I realized I don't like the business lifestyle. I have always wanted to be a doctor, but my parents had other expectations for me so I followed them.
I know doing premed at stern is nearly impossible, so my options are: 1)continue in business and hopefully don't hate my life, 2) attempt to take the premed requirements while at stern, or 3)transfer to a state school (probably the best chance would be a state college at this point because it's hard to transfer right?). So my question is, should I transfer? Or stay in stern and hope for the best?
Pls give me life advice. Thank you🙂

Consider transferring to the from Stern to College of Arts & Sciences. Anecdotally, I know someone who was at Tisch for design, changed to Pre-Med, and finished requirements at CoA&S and achieving desired results.

As for the school environment, NYU's campus definitely has a dichotomy of love it/hate it. The question is whether or not it is worth the hassle of transferring to another school.

As for business versus medicine... it sounds like you already have your answer, per your first sentence.

In regard to each option:

1) Probably the worst choice given what you've said.
2) I thought you said it wasn't possible to take all the premed requirements. Even if it is, why would you continue in business if you hate it? It won't matter to adcoms what your major is, and I don't see the point in doing something you hate. A poster above suggested transferring to Arts & Sciences, if they have the major you want.
3) Up to you. I would transfer for the cost aspect, but I don't know your situation and the funding you get for NYU/if you're loaded and don't care.
