Transferring schools

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you look at the other threads about transferring on SD, you can't find a person that actually did transfer. Based on that, I do think transferring is extremely hard. You also probably risk burning some bridges at your school if you try to transfer but don't get accepted at another school.

You will need a great reason..............like my mother is dying of cancer so I want to transfer to be closer to her before she dies.......

Say for example you are trying to transfer to a closer to home med school.

I want to move to be closer to SO is not going to cut it.

I know of two people who transferred from my school (DO to DO and DO to MD) due to proximity to SO.

Same here. Of the two, the one who transferred DO schools was the academic powerhouse. Which makes me wonder about what sort of factors play into a successful transfer.

it's done pretty infrequently, but I know people who have transferred. If you have a good reason, your school will be supportive
