Transition from Prelim Intern Year to Categorical Program

My prelim program ends on June 27th or 28th, and my categorical program starts on...June 28th 😳/ I've spoken with my program director and he's going to hopefully let me take a vacation one week prior to finishing. But has anyone moved from one program (in 1 state) to their categorical program (in a different state) in a week, and have any advice? (besides 'pack quick' or 'cross your fingers' lol). I plan on taking one of my vacation weeks a couple months before I move to scout out the area and get an idea of where I want to live...any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ugh, that sounds awful. Hope you can get some time off before starting residency. I have a week before I start PGY-2 in a different state and intend to do some scouting beforehand as well. Btw, it sounds like you're moving on to an advanced program if you complete an intern year first then move on to PGY-2. Categorical programs include both internship and residency.

Oh yeah my bad, before I move to my "advanced" program. Either way it should be good times. I found out my advanced program actually starts on the 25th, which gives me negative three days to move.
