Hey,

I was wondering if you knew of TY programs that offered the chance to spend perhaps more than one month of your elective/outpatient months time at another institution. I.e.- say you have a combined 6 months of elective and outpatient requirements, sometimes you can do 1 of the elective months elsewhere- in another country or host institution.

I've heard of one month at most but was wondering if there were some programs that were open to doing electives or outpatient elsewhere kind of like in med school where you got a chance to do away rotations and your primary care outpatient month elsewhere.

There are programs that pay you while you do a month+ of work somewhere else? No wonder TYs are so competitive.

I lived out of state for probably ~1/5 to 1/4 of my intern year. Of course, I wasn't working when I was gone . . .

Kettering allows you to do an away elective month. Most people save it for their June rotation and do an elective at their advanced program. Some people do something elaborate with it, such as an international rotation. The only rule is that you cannot go to an area of turmoil.
