transplant pathology

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The UPMC transplant fellowship doesn't even have a fellow this year. So, I'm guessing that answer is that transplant fellowships are not that competitive.

what are the various transplant pathology fellowship sites? I have seen they are available at UCSF, Jackson Memorial, Johns Hopkins, Univ. Pittsburgh...

in response to LADoc, yes I am serious. How the hell am I supposed to know without being a resident yet? My school doesn't have a path residency either.

yeah but you couldve spend 15 minutes reading posts here BEFORE posting and know people arent clamoring for transplant pathology fellowship slots. We have a search function and this has been discussed before. I spared you because I thought your initial post may have been sarcastic..

In general, anything fellowship that is basically limited to academics (transplant, medical renal, neuropath) will not be competitive. Things that are competitive are things that are more in demand in the community and as a result pay more (coincidence? 😉 )

Look at it this way - a transplant pathologist is not going to be in demand in most private practice situations. Therefore, not a competitive fellowship.

And before someone posts that there are pediatric path and renal path people in private practice, yes, I know that, it's a general statement.

Yeah, funny ain't it. The funnier thing is that there could be positions in these less competitive areas opening up because people are retiring. Now may be the time when the demand:supply ratio is better for people training in these less popular fields.

...or not
