Transportation around Ann Arbor

Next fall I am transferring to UM for undergrad from a much smaller university. I am kinda nervous about transportation and finding my way around. I am going to commute from the Belleville area and take highway 94 in to Ann Arbor. Would it be best or even possible to park somewhere just outside Ann Arbor and ride a bus in to avoid the hassels of finding parking spots? Any advice or info would be much appreciated! Thanks!

There are remote park & ride lots served by umich's commuter buses--see http://www.parking.umich.edu/ for more info. Undergrads are pretty much the algae of the parking food chain in A2, tho'
