Travel Days?

I would like to know what other schools have in regards to travel days/personal days for the 4th year. I am an AZ 3rd year student. This policy has yet to be defined for our 4th year and I would like to know how other schools handle this before I submit my input.

The entire 4th year at DMU is out on externships. So it is basically up to the programs that you visit. Most are totally fine with letting you take a little time to visit other programs in the area. You get one month off also and some of my classmates used that month to visit 4-5 programs as well.

NYCPM has:

4 externships months (usually they are good about days off at the externships to visit other programs)

Several months at either clinic, hospital or other rotation with no official days off and depending on the rotation possibly making it up 3:1 (make up 3 days for each one missed)

There are a few weeks here and there that are off but may need to be used to make up days missed elsewhere.

There are no official days to visit programs and days missed from clinic are considered unexcused even if used to visit programs.

some of the other schools also have trouble finding days to visit programs.

The APMSA discussed this issue a few meetings ago and the Deans were not very receptive to accepting that we need these days.

Azpod should push for these days off for visits. Or at least excused absences when needed to visit programs.
