Travel for Residency Interviews

Does anyone know of any travel discounts for airlines, hotels, and/or rental cars for students traveling to residency interviews? I just booked my first flight for an interview, and it is costing me over $200 for flight alone. At this rate, I am going to be extremely broke by the time I am done interviewing everywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

American Airlines USED TO have a deal with the AAMC to give med students discounts for residency interviews. The rep I spoke with said this promotion expired in the spring and has yet to be renewed.

Me too - I am already as poor as a church mouse.

However, I was advised to apply for the MEDEX loan, for residency and relocation expenses. Up to 12 grand, disbursed in 2 amounts. First 6 for travel, last 6 for relocation. You can cancel the last 6 (or reduce it,) if you decide to stay. Only thing - you can't consolidate it, and the interest rates are not capped.
