Hey guys, been lurking here for awhile. I'm a freshmen and strongly considering switching from business to a science major.
Everyone is concerned about debt, but I'm not too worried if I can get into a decent low cost school after graduation (20k range) as I could pay that off with a PT salary in a few years.
My questions are:
Is travelling as good as it sounds? You see advertisements and all that saying how easy it is. I know you will have to get your license transferred over, but I hear most companies do that? I would hope to travel for 1-2 years after college just to see the country. I'm thinking like visiting Mass, Cal, just some fun states. I hear it is 50~ an hour or so, but I'm assuming the company takes 5-10$ of that, leaving you with 40? But they advertise it as paying for house and some bills, so it just sounds too good to be true?
After travelling I would most want to work in a sports rehabilitation setting. Is there a lot of job opportunities for that? How is the pay compared to other parts of PT?
The other alternative to PT would be doing a clinical biology major as opposed to a ATC or health focus, and go on to med school and hopefully be a sports physician. Much more pay, but pt sounds much more rewarding. 🙂
Lots of questions and I'm thinking ahead, but just want to hear about this from people who are actually in the PT field now!
Thanks so much!
