Hello! so I'm taking the MCAT tomorrow and I haven't been able to kick my bad habit of smoking (yet) with all the studying stress. anyways I've tried the gum- and that made me sick to my stomach even the lowest (2mg) dosage. I've tried the electronic cigarettes and that has been the best so far but still not as good as the real thing obviously...
And I called the testing center and she was very against the idea of an electronic cigarette inside (even though its just water vapor which I tried to explain to her). I'll bring a single use one just in case I can persuade her in person, but just in case i cannot-

I was wondering if anyone else has experimented with either the patch or had any other suggestions

thanks 🙂

You'll have your ten minute break between sections. You can smoke then. I don't know much about patches, but in terms of maintain blood nicotine levels I'm sure they do the job. If low dose nicotine gum is too concentrated, maybe eat half a piece alongside normal gum?

Fun fact: The half life of nicotine is 2 hours, but the half life of its major metabolite, cotinine, is 20 hours. When women give birth to children and say "Doctor, of course I haven't been smoking whilst pregnant!" sometimes they are found to be lying because they have cotinine in their blood still from that morning's cigarette. Also, cotinine is an anagram for nicotine.

I used to smoke like a chimney and successfully quit.

The lozenges are milder on the stomach than the gum, and you can break those into smaller pieces. Try 2mg lozenges and break them in half.

Good luck quitting. All you have to do is make it a few days, and it gets a lot easier.
