  1. Resident [Any Field]
I've been hearing a lot on SDN that medical school recognition is a very important factor when assesing applicants for residency. I'm an IMG and was just wondering how well Trinity College Dublin is recognised, if at all, in the US?😀

The Irish schools, including Trinity are well-reputed. There are many Irish grads in the US. 2 recent Trinity grads are in IM at the Cleveland Clinic. Others are at Univ. of Cincinnati, Univ. of Pittsburgh (I think. Well, pennsylvania some where). Not quite sure how it happens, but we end up making good docs who can fare well on the interview trail 🙂. Are you in my class?

It would be nice to hear from non-students about IMG (irish) rep!

I've worked with 2 Trinity grads in the past 10 years, one a general surgery resident at a decent university affiliated community general surgery program, one who scrambled into ENT (although with as competitive as this field has gotten, I do not think this would be a possibility anymore)

Both were great and very well liked. I do know that when it came time to apply for fellowship the gen surg resident came up empty handed and was told by more than one program it was because of the fact he was an IMG. I think with the current state of academic surgery, being an IMG from anywhere is going to be viewed as a "minus" on the application.
