I am planning a longride trip, and have a few questions. What vaccinations are required in each state for horses? I am asking this as I am riding horseback to all the 48 state capitals, and I want to make sure that I have all the necessary vaccinations for my horses. How long does a certification of Negative Coggins last, and how long does it take to get the results? I am asking so that I can set up scheduled exams on my trip. Thank you in advance.

While this isn't asking for medical advice per se (which would be against the SDN Terms of Service), these questions are better answered by a veterinarian if you can't find the state regulations online. You need an appointment with your vet for the Coggins anyway, might as well as him/her these questions at that time, IMO.

Definitely thought this was my horse forum when I first opened the page...

I would call your vet & research online. Your vet will be a great sounding board, but they are probably not up to date on every vaccination every state requires. Negative Coggins test certainly, but you will also want all of the vaccines show horses get who will be exposed to a lot of germs. Can't think of many state-specific requirements, but there will certainly be different recommendations due to variations in climate. Valid health certificate definitely necessary.

Have a lovely trip!
