Were you ever the recipient of any action for unacceptable academic performance, or were you ever the recipient of any action for conduct violations by any college or school? *

What if .... my friend...had an minor issue, do they verifiy this kinda stuff?

No and no, but yea if by "they" you're referring to medical schools, they definitely verify and look at your misconduct. Depending on the severity of it, it could cause you to be automatically rejected on the spot. Would you want a physician taking care of you who cheated his way through undergrad and med school? Sorry OP, it's the harsh reality bro.

Define "action for unacceptable academic performance", academic probation?

sorry lemme rephrase...getting kicked out the pool and having to write a paper for it.I dont even know how to look it up, will medical schools?

Sorry, I don't know what that means haha

so yes, i was kicked out the of the pool and my name was sent to student conduct..I had to write a paper.

My Q is, what if I just pretend that never happened, will med school going digging for it?

They won't have to go digging for it if it shows up on your file. And if that's the case and you still get an interview, pretending it never happened is one of the worst things you could do.

Would they ask me "Tell me about the time you were at the swimming pool ....."

How would the medical school posssibliy know if I didnt disclose it to them?

Your institution would disclose that you had a conduct violation of some sort on your transcript I think. Regardless, if you got written up for something, med schools will see and med schools will ask. And you best have shown that you've learned from your mistakes and it won't happen again. Bottom line is you messed up, you know it, and you've done everything in your power to fix the issue and learn. Otherwise you're wasting your time.

If you don't know if you got written up, dive in, swim over the person who kicked you out of a pool and ask.

This is one of those stupid things that you see on the app and the interviewer simply ignores. If it were a DUI, or cheating, that would be a problem.

BUT, can you afford NOT to mention it? IF the school somehow finds out about it, and you didn't mention it, you'd be rejected, or have your acceptance rescinded, or be expelled for being dishonest. My colleagues take professionalism very seriously, and there's good data showing dishonest doctors start out as dishonest students.

So check the box, provide the explanation, own the transgression, and you'll be fine.

How does a grown adult get kicked out of a pool? Honestly. Cannonballing too hard? Obnoxiously splashing other people? Or did you simply just pee in the water?

Getting kicked out of the pool = unacceptable academic performance?
Perhaps unacceptable behavior at an academic institution, but definitely not performance. I don't believe there's a place to put that on your transcript. I'm pretty sure it's next to impossible to place someone on academic probation or expel them for getting kicked out of the pool even ten times. Unless, as the poster said above, you were maliciously harassing other individuals.
I was an RA for three years. Anything that happened in in the residences (which is considered on-campus), regardless of underage drinking, fights, or even getting kicked out would not show up your academic transcript.
Getting arrested, DUI, etc. is different.

I will explain to the interveiwers that my apporach to medicine will be the same as my apporach to swimming; I GO HARD!

What exactly did you do?

Careful, my friend. For all we know he got kicked out of groping a girl inappropriately or defecating in a pool full of people. That would be questionable behavior that may make ADCOM hesitate.

Moral of the story:

Don't go goosing and sharking people.

Hahaha. Who besides a child would knowingly defecate in a pool full of people?!

Okay, i got kicked out the pool beacuse I broke the following rules
1. ONLY 1 person per hammock
2. NO holding breath underwater
3. NO slam dunking on the pool basketball thing
4. NO talking to life guards

I AM NOT A CRIMINAL!

That is so not worth mentioning in the application, IMO. It would be one thing if you decided to rip your trunks off and run around the pool naked. That's just silly that you got in trouble for that.

No holding your breath underwater? That's ridiculous.

Automatic reject for anyone talking to a life guard.

WTF? So one should inhale the water or is there some rule about putting your head underwater? How could you have any fun in the pool?

I suspect sexual assault (groping) would lead to a larger IA issue than merely getting kicked out of the pool and writing an essay about it. More likely, getting licked out of school!

I'm certain that's how someone that would do that would like it to end up ;-)

How would a school find out? Do they contact the office of academic affairs?

Has that ever happened at your school, someone omits an IA and then gets the boot?

What would be an unforgivable IA?

What kind of conduct would be ok to leave out? Alcohol violation that didn't go on record? Improper citations of a paper/plagiarism? Is it Safer to just disclose everything?

Suppose a LOR writer mentioned it? "Joe X has grown immensely. He has clearly overcome the immaturity that he displayed up to the time of his IA. Since then, I'd trust him with my kids". In addition, I don't know what our wily Dean of Admissions does to vet potential students.

I'm not aware that someone has been booted out for lying or omitting something on an app, but IAs are very rare events. I see one maybe 2-3 times during an interview cycle.

We have rejected people for multiple DUI, >1 infractions (someone who doesn't learn from their mistakes is not someone we want as a student or a doctor), history of violence, and cheating.
