Ive been worried about my overall GPA. Ill be applying next june and my gpa is around a 3.5ish. The problem is I have got some Cs in some core classes (2 Semesters of Chem, Ochem2, Biochem). My science gpa is somewhere around a 3.2. Im just really worried that these Cs are really going to hurt me when I apply. There was a time where I was going through a rough time with family but I dont know if I should explain that to med schools.

I guess my question is...how much are the Cs in these specific classes going to hurt?

Hmm.... I don't know, C's in every chem class taken might hurt a bit.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. There's no real excuse for C's in the general chem classes especially.

I have an upward trend in my GPA and I think my GPA is pretty average. Will the C's be a deciding factor for acceptance or rejection? I can understand them hurting my chances but Im just wondering how much affect they'll have. Is it possible to make up for those C's in some way? Maybe with MCAT scores?

a sGPA of 3.2 after 6 C's is impressive...lol...

but 3.2 is on the low side..

just work on your EC's and stop getting anymore C's.

u cant make up for a GPA with MCAT scores... sometimes the vice versa is possible...

I counted 4 c's

Hmmm so whats that mean? YOu got 5 A's and 4 C's? That just looks funny, If I were you I would be more worried about how your gonna do on that part of the MCAT... Which having an excelent score in would help considerably...
All in all I dont think you are RUINED but you're going to need to have one hell of a junior year, and a prayer..
Or apply DO.
Best of luck to you!

Um doesnt it depend on the GPA and the MCAT SCORE? Too say you just cant seems a bit absurd.
I think getting a 3.3 with a 44 on the MCAT more than makes up for the weaker GPA...
