trover health center FP residency

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am a second year resident at Trover who transferred from a internal medicine prelim year at UK. Teaching, atmosphere, quality working hours, call from home, moonlighting with tail coverage, life outside residency. I am extremely happy with the program. If you are lucky enough to stumble across this program and are intersted in family medicine hold onto it. My income has increased to over 90,OOO in the second year with moonlighting. The attendings are friendly and have a full career's worth of experience and are more than willing to teach.

do graduates from your program go into fellowship?

Fellowships in family medicine are not hard to obtain from my understanding. I am not really interested in doing one myself. We have a recent grad hired as a hospitalist at our hospital and a third year who is going to be hired as an er doc in our emergency room. Another recent grad opened up a private practice and still another was hired on at an urgent care clinic in Seattle, WA for about 200,000 a yr.

anyone get into sports medicine from your program?

I think our sports medicine doc (Dr. Chummley) graduated from our residency program. Family medicine fellowships aren't competitive from my understanding in that you do them because you really want too. The income potential is not really increased. Someone who has more knowledge feel free to correct me on this. Sports medicine is a great elective to take in second year. I haven't taken it yet though I understand Dr. Chummley is really good and he did give a noon conference lecture a few months ago. I understand he can move through patients pretty fast so I am sure he is doing well.

Sounds like a supportive and comfortable situation. Can anyone suggest other FP programs that may have a similar level of support and comfort. I'm not interested in those NYC residencies.
