Hey y'all!

My friend asked me to ask this on her behalf (she doesn't have an account).
She's applying for US osteopathic medical schools this year as a Canadian citizen.

Her stats: 3.82 GPA (her GPA at McGill... not sure of conversion for AACOMAS), 27 MCAT (10 verbal, 9 bio, 8 physics), and amazing, extensive, well-rounded ECs.

This year she was interviewed at medical schools in Canada but was waitlisted/ not accepted so this year she is applying to DO as well.

She can't financially afford to apply to a lot of schools so she is applying to what she thinks are the two most Canadian friendly. She hasn't found any stats specific for Canadian admission for MSUCOM and WesternU COMP.
She is applying to MSUCOM because of their Canadian initiative. Schools say they are Canadian friendly but stats-wise would WesternU COMP be a good second choice? Should she apply to another school too (if so, which?)?

She says to keep her 27 MCAT in mind. Thanks everyone 😀

Thanks everyone. She can't afford to apply to all/ the majority of the schools that accept internationals so she wants to apply to only 2-4 in addition to MSUCOM. She wants to know statistically which schools have accepted the most number of Canadians.

I had a 26 on the MCAT and a ~3.5 GPA with pretty good ECs. UNECOM took me a few years ago and we've got several Canadians, so definitely UNECOM!

Hey, Im a Canadian recently accepted to a US DO school.

My stats were 31 MCAT (12 Bio, 9 VR, 10 physics) with a 3.5 overall GPA.

Unfortunately the VR is the make or break for us :/ It does suck, but what can ya do?

Is she considering re-taking her MCAT? I first got a 26 due to poor studying, a restudied very seriously during my fourth year.

Her GPA is solid, so congrats on that.

Generally the averages are on the admissions sites, so check that out.

Is she part of the Canadian DO group on facebook? A lot of current Cad DO's on there, they are always willing to help!

She needs to re-write the MCAT. Why waste 200K more to become an IMG when she could re-write a 400$ exam?

Physics was her downfall and that's almost gone now. We have no idea what health canada will choose to do with DOs/IMGs over 4 years, clearly they do whatever now with no warning, so it's a risk on her part. An easily avoidable risk.
