Hello, like the title says, I'm trying to decide which medical schools to apply to. It it helpful if the school has a residency or fellowship program that I'm interested in? I've been told that it's helpful because I could do research in that area. Also, do medical school students have the opportunity to do research in fellowship as well as residency areas that their school offers?
Thank you!!

Depends on what residency you are interested in. If it is something like ENT, NSG, it will probably matter for building recommendations from the home departments since these are fairly small and insular fields, these recommendations will go a long distance.

On the flip side I would keep a broad list with an open mind, because you never know if you will get interviewed or not, even with the stats.
