I just found out that my premed advisor sent out my letter packet without the LOR from the PI of my research lab (1+ years in his lab), and instead sent it separately to TMDSAS who uploaded it Friday. My application has been transmitted to the schools for about a month and a half without his letter (the only one I had from a science faculty), and now that it's available I would like to let the schools know it's there. I have already had two interviews, and one more scheduled, but I have heard nothing from the other 5 schools. I have a recent publication that I was planning on updating the schools as well, so I'm thinking I will send out an update letter that includes both these items.

Has anyone else run into a similar problem? Suggestions?

I don't have any experience with this, but I think an update letter would be more than appropriate. I'm assuming it would be a strong letter and it's important because it's your science faculty one. Maybe just mention that there was a mixup (don't blame anyone in particular) and forward the letter and the publication info.

Thanks! As for the update letter, is it best to include your individual updates as well as mentioning what you like about the specific school and how it fits with your interests?
