Hello. I am trying to find out just what podiatry is, where it fits in within the ACA, and why the podiatrists require three years of postgraduate training after obtaining their degree. I cannot get answers from podiatrists in-training "residents' or anyone in the field that remotely corresponds with data from my MD (class of '82) colleagues. I do know they are non ABMS, and are classified by NPI as service providers, but in considering how to place them within our group has become frustrating as their threads here, and around the web are inconsistent. The podiatrists interviewed insist their training is similar to med school, yet I remain unconvinced. If I posted this at their forum I would surely be censored, or banned, as it appears this is a touchy question. I have gathered there are 50 states 50 practice laws, no indication of how thy augment a group practice setting. Any information would be helpful.
