Osmotic Pressure: 1L H2O, R=.1 T=273 and have 234g of NaCl.

(234/58)= moles of NaCL

OP=MRT = (.1)(273)(4 moles)= 109.2 atm

According to Top Test, the answer is 218.4 atm, exactly 2 times this amount.

i = 2

thanks

*bangs head on desk*

Do a search next time...been answered ad nauseum

pi=MRTi where i = # of ionic elements in solution. So for NaCl, its 2 (Na+ and Cl-)

if it were CaCl2 i would be 3 (Ca2+ and 2Cl-)
