I just received a snail mail invite from TUCOM Mare Island. Can anyone tell me in their personal experience how many people are interviewing this year and about how many people are accepted of those who interview? This is my number one choice and I really want to get in, so any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

If they are sending you an interview invite this early in the admissions cycle, you are very likely to get in.

That's been my experience.

I got an invite too. I called them up the day before and the lady that answered the phone said that my application was under review and I would hear from them soon. The next days I got a yellow envelope in the mail. I honestly thought it was a rejection, otherwise I figured she would have told me over the phone. So I opened the envelope and the first piece of paper that came out was a list of hotels and stuff to do in the area. That's when I realized it was good news.
I have to call them back.
Good luck to everyone with interviews at TUCOM-MI.

Does this apply to Henderson also? And is it pretty hard to screw up an interview? B/C I KNOW I will be nervous and just don't want to mess it up.

from my experience last year, 425 people get interviewed every year at tucom-ca for the 125 spots..and they really only start to waitlist people after december/january. please let me know if any of you need interview advice for tucom-ca..i'd be glad to help 🙂

How did they tell you when it was time for you to fill out the secondary?

I downloaded their application from the web. I had it all filled out stamped and all and was just waiting for their invite. I happened to be home when the mail came so I just went back outside and handed the secondary to the mail man.

Just an FYI,

TUCOM's interviews are different than anywhere else that I went... there are 4-5 students vs. 3 interviewers in a room and each interviewer asks each student a question or 2. They really go over your secondary and ask you specific questions about what you have written... i think we had the hard ass guy though for my interview.

just don't screw up the interiew by telling them you have some other program lined up if you don't get into TUCOM. a girl in my group told them that she was going to get her MPH somewhere if not admitted and they literally said to her face "wow, you totally blew that question" in front of all of us.

you guys are really early, good for you. my interview was the last week where they only had 6 spots left for this fall. I got in for 2007 but decided to go to COMP instead since i'm such an old man already (27).🙂

Um, how is this bad? If you don't get into medical school, you do need a backup plan.😕

i guess a more 'correct' answer would be that you understand your weaknesses in your application, improve them, and then reapply to med school. getting an mph may help..but i think stating that is getting to specific and making it sound as if you are content with not getting into med school. just let them know that you will reapply and do whatever it takes to get into med school.😉

I'm so excited! i just got my interview invite in the mail. 🙂

There's a dramatic story unfolding at Touro College of Medicine in California unfolding at the moment. The university has inexplicable barred the Gay/Lesbian and Bisexual students from meeting as a group on campus.

wow i can't believe that...i didn't think the religious affiliations of a school would prohibit student groups on campus. that's really awful for touro to cut funding like that, i hope that students will be protesting soon
