Does anyone know anything more about the vegas campus the info was taken off the the mare island web site. I would like to know more about the area, rent, school info, etc.
Any info would be appreciated. 😳 😳

I apologize on my school's behalf that there is little to no information available about TUVCOM-NV on the internet... The school is at an exciting transition and something official should be up and running shortly...

As far as the area, rent, and school info goes, let me tell you some of what I know...

The address of the school is 824 American Pacific Dr. in Henderson, Nevada, which is Nevada's second largest city. From my limited time in the area, it seems relatively safe and full of all the creature comforts that I need... Rent in the area ranges about $750 for a one bedroom apartment to about $1100 for a three bedroom apartment. My inaugural class that starts on August 1st has 75 members, and we should be joined shortly (october) by the 30 members of the inaugural PA class. the class of 2009 should increase in size to 100, a cohort that will be selected by TUCOM - NV's new director of admissions, Mr. Roger Corbman (versus the inaugural cohort that has selected by Dr. Don Haight). Our curriculum will closely shadow the curriculum presented at the Mare Island campus.

Henderson, a city? Oh yes lovely area, near the former Rocket fuel plant (Pepcom?), aluminum plant, and chlorine plant with occasional random emissions.

I'm rather curious what hospitals you'll be using. UNSOM runs UMC and I bet they aren't very happy they were beaten by TUCOM in getting a med school in Vegas. So you got valley system, sunrise, and ??

I'm a native of Henderson if you have any questions about the area. The campus is placed kind of randomly in the middle of a business park, with very little in the way of food, shopping, and places to live within walking distance. However, within a short driving distance (a car is a necessity) there is all of this and more, and everything else you could want. The Las Vegas strip is about 15 min. away. It's a great city, and for the most part, very safe.
