where is everyone planning on staying? and do you guys think getting a plane ticket for 6pm risky?
I think flying out at 6pm should be fine, things are expected to end around 2:30.

Mailing 7/24
13 dates of interviews, each group in the past was 15 so 185 invites total.
next set of invites will go most likely Oct 9 when school gets replies how many people accepted invites from this round. After that Tufts should start giving out post Dec invites- I believe in the past they interviewed large pool of app post Dec. Tufts has been known to give out 400+ interviews total with overall acceptance rate 60%.

So they started interviewing today, any thoughts on those who were there?

So I just talked to someone from tufts on the phone the other day; they are done with pre-december interview invites.

They will not be granting any interviews scheduled for the month of December (they are moving as part of the expansion).

Next round of invites will be given late nov/ early december, and they will be from jan to most likely april. 👍

I just interviewed there and flew out at 5:20. It wasn't a problem at all. You can catch the subway and be at the airport in 30 minutes max (probably more like 20 minutes though). Things ended for us right around 2:30 or 3:00. The only regret I have is not allowing more time to check out Boston. Its a pretty cool city.

I was more impressed with Tufts than I thought I would be. I had done a lot of research on this school before the interview, and I already knew a lot about the program. But they really impressed me. Here's what I liked about the school, that I didn't already know before the day of the interview:

-They are very thorough and honest about their program. Before the interview, they send a huge booklet with every possible stat regarding the school. On the day of the interview, they give you a book with a half page biography on every graduating senior. Mark Gonthier did a fantastic job answering any additional questions we had. I wish that every school was this upfront and thorough in describing their program. Some schools just give you a powerpoint presentation and a 6-page glossy brochure, and expect you to commit 4 years of your life and a couple hundred grand on their program. But Tufts really lets you know what you're getting. I'm not saying that the program is for everyone, but they're not hiding anything.

-in clinic, you have to do your own labwork. I know that in private practice I won't be doing lab work, but this is a skill that I want to learn.

-with the completion of the vertical expansion, the predoctoral clinic will increase in size by 50% (the new space is for the postgrad programs, and the predoctoral clinic will get the old postgrad space). This will greatly improve the chair:student ratio.

-While most of the new construction is for postgrads, there is one big benefit for the predoctoral program: the new sim lab that is about to open is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.

-I just felt that throughout the day, they treated us well. Better than at some other schools I've interviewed at. I believe that how a school treats you at the interview is indicative of how you will be treated while in school. Yeah, it's possible that things will change. But if they treat you like cattle, or put you through a bunch of BS at the interview, I think that's a bad sign.

As for the interview itself, it was very laid back, mostly like a conversation. My interviewer was so nice. Most of the other applicants felt the same way, but one person came back rattled, saying that they got destroyed. Who knows, maybe different interviewers are different. Maybe this applicant got caught lying about something. I don't know. But I don't think you should be nervous about the interview, most applicants felt they went really well. Good luck!

Agreed on everything you just said! I interviewed yesterday and the school exceeded my expectations on every level. Oh, and that new sim lab... WOW!

was also impressive-they tried to match up applicants with current students- people from same city or same undergrad school. I had a 4th year student from my city meeting me during the lunch.
Tufts seems to care a great deal about how their students feel when they graduate/do they feel confident, do the feel they need to refer a lot of cases etc/- they survey each graduating class and follow them up with 5 year survey about how confident they felt in their work etc. AND take it into account for new classes programs.
Very impressed by school!

anyone want to share a room on nov 9th for the nov 10th interview?

So I notice on the feedback that there are 2 interviewers but that it is one-on-one. Does that mean that you have 2 separate interviews or just one interview with 2 people?

I was at one of the first couple inteviews, and they were training students to become interviewers. So a faculty member interviewed me, and a student basically just watched, asking an occasional question. I assume that at some point in the application cycle, there will be just a student conducting the interview. But I'm not totally sure.

For those who went with coats or any sort of outerwear, did the school have a place for you to store your belongings?
