There have been several posts by people worried about Tufts interview. Here is some feedback, and the day, good questions, etc.

The day started at 9am. First we got a presentation on statistics. Here they are:

at Tufts they interview about 15-20% of applicants, and of those interviewed 60-70% accepted, 15% waitlisted, 5-10% placed on hold, and 10% rejected. So if you got an interview, relax! you've done good!

Also, this year they got even more applicants, so far (with about a month still left) they have received 3436 applications and interviewed 224, and have accepted 169 of which 70 have confirmed. The total class is 150 so there are plenty of room left.

We also learned about the Merit Scholarship: all are considered, it's about 4K-6K, with 15-20% of incoming students getting it, and all parts of your application is looked at.

Then we had a financial aid presentation and a tour of the school. We visited the auditorium, the sim lab, the standard bench lab, the clinic and some of the specialties. Great tour and very informative.

Then we came back to the Dean's office and had Associate Dean of Admissions, Mark Gonthier, give a presentation. He went over some of the info from the DMD Program Info packet as well as any other areas we wanted to learn about. He is great! Cares about the students and has SOOOOO much info to share!!!!

Then we had lunch with students. There were 1st -4th year students hanging out and popping in to say hello and ready to answer any questions. And then is the interview. I had a 4th year student, great guy, very friendly and very informal. We talked about my, my family, my research and then about traveling through Europe and foreign languages. And then I asked a bunch of questions about his experience.

There was a total of 8 of us, and only 1 had a 4th year and faculty member, the rest of us had just the 4th year. EVERYONE had a positive experience during their interview and there were a few for who this was the first interview. The interview is OPEN FILE, they get a few pages about all your AADSAS info.

Then we all met up in the boardroom, looks a little like Donald's Apprentice one, and Mark finished his presentation. At about 2 we were free to go.

Here are some questions to keep in mind as you prepare:

When did you first got interested in dent.?
Why dent?
Why not medicine?
Tell me about your research?
Tell me about your family?
Tell me about a stressful time in your life.
How did you deal with the stressful situation?
How do you deal with stress?
Your hobbies?
Your strength and weaknesses?
Why Tufts?
What do you do if you are in a group and one of the members is slacking?
If you see a student cheating in your class, what do you do?

one of the faculty likes to ask "interesting questions":
What animal would you be? and why?
What kitchen utensil would you be? and why?
What one question would you ask Saddam Hussein?

These questions are compiled for your convenience from my personal experience and the SDN interview feedback section.

Good luck to all those interviewing at Tufts and remember to RELAX! This one is stress freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
